The blade is 3.2 mm thick and has a scandi grind profile that makes it easy to keep sharp. The spine of the blade is ground to a 90 degree sharp angle allowing it to be used with the fire starter and for scraping fatwood and other hard materials. The kit has a diamond sharpener and a detachable fire stick on the polymer sheath. The fire stick is good for 7000 strikes.
