Advantages after testing:

  • High degree of control due to the forged curve where the head meets the handle for carving and making notches as your grip is near the middle of the cutting edge

  • Easy to maintain as you can use wood oil to protect the axe head as well as the flexibility of the handle

Disadvantages after testing:

  • The edge may chip if misused as the steel is not very hard, however it means it is also easier to sharpen in the field

Gränsfors Log-building and Carpentry Tools have been specially developed for use in log house building, carpentry and wood sculpting. These axes and tools have been designed in collaboration with expert woodsmen and carpenters.

Traditional tools have provided a template for the models that Gränsfors Bruk now produces, but they have been modified and developed in partnership with specialists and professionals to meet the demands of today’s users.

Each type of axe is designed for a specific function, hence the considerable variation in axe head design, grind and handles.

Almost all Log-building and Carpentry Tools come with a sheath of vegetable-tanned leather and a copy of The Axe Book.
