About The Free Wilderness Survival Program for Kids and Youth
The purpose of this program is to help introduce safety in the outdoors to the younger generation with the aim of making our community safer. Kids and Youth will be given important safety tips and learn about Optimism Bias and how it can affect survival in the outdoors.
This program is useful for kids and youth who participate in outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. It is an overview of how we can enjoy nature in a safe way. Our instructors cover the following topics:
Trip planning
Survival priorities
Being aware of your surroundings
Essential items, tools and the required skills
A safe place for your shelters
Wildlife encounters

The Free Wilderness Survival Program for Kids and Youth is located in Metchosin on Vancouver Island. The address is 1258 Neild Rd, Victoria, BC, Canada.
Prerequisites
The participants must be 9 - 17 years old. These are the minimum and maximum ages of participants.
Requirements
Clothes fit for weather conditions. If it is rainy, you should wear a rain jacket and pants. There is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.
Hiking shoes/boots or running shoes
Notebook and pencil
Water and snacks
Any personal items such as anti-allergy medication, sunscreen or insect repellant.
